Midweek Activities

Wednesday Evenings | AWANA 6:30-8 pm

Awana aims to teach children to know, love, and serve God. On Wednesday night discipleship club, kids have the opportunity to memorize, study, and learn life lessons from important Bible passages to help them grow spiritually, and to have a blast playing exciting games and activities! Does your child have special needs? Let us know! Whatever the diagnosis, from ADHD to Autism to Down Syndrome, we want to make sure your child can learn about Jesus in an age appropriate and developmentally appropriate way. As needed, volunteers are assigned to partner with kids who need extra help participating and we will work with you to custom-design a ministry plan for your child. Contact us to schedule a time to discuss your child’s needs.

Planning to visit GracePointe Naperville?
We know that visiting a church can be a stressful experience as you wonder if your child will be safe and well-cared for. We hope to answer all your questions on this page, but if you have more, feel free to contact us. We want to make sure your first experience in GP Kids becomes a regular one!

Do you baptize or dedicate babies?2024-06-10T16:52:56-05:00

At Grace Pointe, we believe baptism is a conscious decision a person makes to publicly declare their faith in Jesus. Therefore, we do not baptize infants. But we do baby dedications during a service to stand with new families in raising their children up in the Church. If you regularly attend GP or are a members of the church and would like to have your infant dedicated during a service, please fill out this form.

I am nursing my infant. Where can I go?2024-12-21T15:01:48-06:00

A comfortable lounge for nursing moms and their spouses, if desired, is available in the infant nursery. The service is streamed live so you won’t miss a thing!

What should I bring?2018-07-28T14:19:52-05:00

For infants and toddlers, bring a diaper bag with anything your child might need during the service (bottle, diapers & wipes, sippy cup, change of clothes, comfort item). Cheerios and/or animal crackers are provided but if your child needs a different snack, fee free to pack that.

For preschoolers, pack a diaper bag if needed. It’s always a good idea to have an extra set of clothes available even for children who are potty trained since accidents sometimes happen. Start early having your child develop the habit of bringing a Bible. We recommend the My First Hands-on Bible published by Tyndale House.

For elementary-aged kids, we use a Bible weekly and recommend the Following Jesus BIble (ESV Version) published by Crossway. Don’t have a Bible? No problem! We will gladly give one to your child!

For all items, be sure they are clearly labeled with your child’s first name and last initial.

How do I know you won’t release my child to someone else?2018-07-28T14:20:00-05:00

Guardian receipts include the child’s name and a family number. As children are picked up, volunteers match both the name and number. Children will not be released without further identification if the name and number do not match.

What if my child needs me during GP Kids activities?2019-10-03T20:40:32-05:00

On Sundays, parents of preschoolers will receive a pager. We will page you if your child needs your attention. Having provided your phone number during check in allows us to contact you during other ministry activities.

My child has food allergies. Will s/he be safe?2019-10-17T16:45:03-05:00

During the check-in process, you have the opportunity to write a note regarding your child. Please indicate the allergy which will be printed on the nametag. We always have an allergen free option for snacks. If a special cooking activity will be taking place which may impact your child, we will alert you.

Will sick children be around my child?2019-10-03T20:41:28-05:00

In order to promote the health and wellness of all our children, GP Kids is for well children only. If a child has any of the following symptoms, the parents will be asked to keep the child with them for the day:

– Fever above 100 degrees within the last 24 hours
– Vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours
– Sore throat
– On antibiotic for any illness less than 24 hours
– Unexplained or contagious skin rash
– Chronic cough
– Bleeding/wet diaper rash
– Runny nose with yellow or green discharge
– Pink eye
– Parasites (lice, ringworm, bed bugs)

How are volunteers screened?2018-07-28T14:20:32-05:00

All volunteers must complete a ministry application and pass a background check. In addition, every room must be staffed with two unrelated adults. Volunteers undergo regular training on safety policy and procedures.

Where do I go and what do I do when I arrive?2020-03-11T18:12:07-05:00

If you have an infant or toddler, our nursery is on the main floor. For children ages two and up, proceed down the stairs near the coffee area. Visit one of our check-in kiosks where you will enter your name, email address and phone number as well as the name(s) and age(s)/grade(s) of your children. Name tags will be printed for your children at these stations as well as guardian receipts for you. You will need to present these receipts to pick up your children at the end of the ministry activity.

After receiving your nametags and Guardian Receipts, proceed to the appropriate classroom. You can see a building map with Sunday class locations here. Rooms for other ministries will vary, but we will have people available to help you figure out where to go.
