Immersed: A Day in the Gospels

Immersed: A Day in the Gospels

Sunday, August 30, 2026 | 1 pm to 10:30 pm

Sunday, August 30, 2026 | 1 pm to 10:30 pm

Spend a day in the story that changes everything. On Sunday, August 30th, starting promptly at 1 pm, Grace Pointe will gather to read straight through all four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, from beginning to end in one continuous day. Staff, elders, deacons, leaders, volunteers, and GP families will take turns reading the Gospels chapter by chapter. There will be breaks for worship and prayer between each Gospel, and the night will conclude around approximately 10:30 pm with communion.

This is an open house event. Come for an hour or stay for the whole time. We hope you join us to read God’s word together as a church and prepare our hearts for the next ministry year beginning in September (more info to come for the next year’s theme on Vision Sunday on 9/13). Let us meditate on His word and be inspired by His works and commands by reading the scriptures together as a body.

FAQs

Several sections are set aside specifically for families: the stories of Jesus calming the storm, meeting the woman at the well, feeding the five thousand, and raising Lazarus from the dead, so kids can be part of the reading, too. Please check the full schedule for exact times of kid-focused sections and readings.

Childcare will not be provided. We encourage families to attend together during family-focused times. The nursery and nursing mother’s room will be available, with the readings being broadcast if needed.

When reading Scripture on a Sunday morning, our congregation will stand in honor, awe, and respect for the Word of God. While you are more than welcome to stand for the entire reading (1-10:30 pm), you are also welcome to sit, kneel, or pace —whatever you feel the Spirit lead you to do in the moment. There is no pressure or expectation of a particular posture throughout the day.

Grace Pointe typically used the ESV to read, teach, and preach. We will primarily use the ESV. If any other versions are used, we will note that in the reading. ESV Bibles are available in the sanctuary seats for use, or you can bring your own of any translation.

You are welcome to come and go as you please. Though you are more than welcome to stay for the entire event, if you need to go home for dinner, a meeting, or to put the kids to bed? No problem. We encourage everyone to come at some point, but you are not required to stay for any section of time, nor do you need to sign up for a time slot.

No registration is required for this event. If you would like to read a passage at the event, registration is required HERE.

Yes! Everyone is welcome to attend Immersed. You do not need to attend Grace Pointe to participate in this event.
